Santa Barbara Divide trail run near Penasco, New Mexico. Truchas peak in the background.

Photo of my brother during a 30 mile training run in NM. Thought about this photo recently(my favorite from that day) as I'm heading out there in May for a 50 mile race that we're running in together.

About 20 minutes and a couple miles before this photo was taken, a bear ran across the path into a group of trees. The only way we could keep going was to run by the grouping of trees. For some odd reason, I became a bit nervous when we saw the bear from a distance but not at all when we ran by where it entered. Maybe because there wasn't anything we could do and whatever happens, happens! Needless to say, we spent 7 hrs in the middle of nowhere and I was happy to be alive when the run was over.

On the morning of my brother's wedding in Santa Fe he and I went for a run at the SF ski area which overlooks the city. We made it to the top at about 12,000 ft of elevation before heading back down. At the top left of the photo, you can see the Sandia Mountains that overlook Albuquerque, my 2nd home.

A photo of the both of us near the top of the ski area.

Running with a tripod is possible. Love the mountains!
